Vitra's EA 208 belongs to the Aluminium Group's Soft Pad group, developed by Ray and Charles Eames. Dating from 1969, the design is slightly more opulent than its slender parents, but is no less bright and elegant. It's not just the shape that inspires, the design and construction are particularly impressive. The upholstery fabric is fixed between aluminum side sections, adapted to the shape of the human spine. By means of two sleepers, the seat is stretched and rolled up and down on two aluminum rods. The designers have given up their proven recipe for the success of a seat shell, making padding the constituent element of the seat surface. The stitched coating of the EA 208 offers an interesting contrast to the filigree profile of the swivel seat. The leather is available in different colors for padding. The chair with the four-spoke base can rotate 360° and is very comfortable thanks to its low seat height.
